Cutting carbon with solutions for commercial buildings
Working with Commercial Buildings
Our building performance monitoring solutions are not just for residential buildings; we have also worked with commercial buildings.
From 2013 we have collaborated with the University of Reading to help them reduce their carbon emissions and achieve their goals. The first of these was to cut their carbon emissions by 35% before the end of 2016.
Achieving longterm change
Since then, we have worked with the university to implement live usage data for almost all of their buildings. We now have real-time data, at 30-minute intervals, for gas, water, electricity and steam usage.
This allows the university to keep track of their energy consumption and stay on track with their goals.
We have also helped with developing longterm behavioural changes which involved working closely and holding talks with staff and lecturers. This has resulted in a 10% reduction in energy consumption, published academic collaboration, and even award nominations.
Goals met, Future Goals Made
The University of Reading have achieved their 2016 target, and now they are aiming for a 45% reduction by 2021, with the hopes to become Net Zero Carbon by 2030.
Soon they will be on our Shimmy Solution which will help them stay updated and in control of their usage.
